MATCH MY PUP PRIVACY POLICY

Match My Pup is a game that allows users to optionally upload a photo of themselves and a photo of their dog for use in gameplay. This policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and your choices.

Information We Collect Directly

If you choose to Join the Pack, we collect:

  • One photo of you.

  • One photo of your dog.

  • A randomly generated Pack ID stored on your device's Keychain and in cloud services operated by Google Firebase.

Match My Pup does not collect names, email addresses, or account information.

Information Collected by Third-Party Services

Match My Pup uses the following third-party services, each of which may collect data independently:

Google AdMob (Advertising)

Match My Pup displays ads provided by Google AdMob. Depending on your consent choices, AdMob may collect:

  • Device identifiers (such as Apple's Identifier for Advertisers)

  • IP address

  • Coarse location (derived from IP address)

  • App usage and ad interaction data (ads viewed, tapped, or dismissed)

  • Crash logs and performance diagnostics

If you consent to personalized advertising, AdMob may use this information to show you ads based on your interests and activity across apps. If you decline personalized ads, AdMob will show non-personalized ads and limit its data collection accordingly.

Purchasing the ad-free upgrade ($0.99 USD) permanently removes advertising from Match My Pup. When ads are disabled, AdMob is not used to serve advertisements and ad-related data collection is minimized or eliminated, except where required for app functionality, security, or diagnostics.

Uploading your first photo pair also grants one week of ad-free play.

Google Firebase (Storage and Database)

Uploaded photos and their associated Pack IDs are stored using Google Firebase Storage and Firestore. Firebase may process data on servers located outside of Canada. No names, email addresses, or account information are stored in Firebase.

Firebase App Check

Match My Pup uses Firebase App Check to verify that requests to our database come from the genuine app. App Check uses device attestation tokens and does not collect personal information.

Apple StoreKit (In-App Purchases)

The $0.99 ad-free upgrade is processed entirely by Apple. Match My Pup does not receive or store any payment or billing information. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Apple Vision Framework (Photo Classification)

Match My Pup uses Apple's Vision framework to classify uploaded photos (for example, to confirm a photo contains a dog or a person). This processing runs entirely on your device — no image data is sent to Apple or any other service for this purpose.

Face Data

When you upload a photo of yourself through Join the Pack, that photo may contain your face. Match My Pup does not perform facial recognition, face mapping, or biometric analysis of any kind. Uploaded photos are not processed to extract, identify, or analyze facial features.

Photos you upload are stored using Google Firebase Storage and are displayed to other Match My Pup players as part of gameplay. Photos are not shared with any third parties beyond what is described in this policy (Google Firebase for storage, and Google SafeSearch for content moderation). No face data is extracted, stored separately, or used for any purpose other than displaying your photo within the game.

You may delete your uploaded photos at any time by tapping Join the Pack and selecting the delete icon. Deleted photos are permanently removed from active systems. Photos are retained only until deleted by you or removed by us for moderation, operational, or legal reasons.

How We Use Information We Collect

Uploaded photos are intended to be viewed by other Match My Pup players as part of gameplay. By uploading a photo, you understand that other players will see and interact with that content within the app. We do not sell, share, or use uploaded photos for any purpose other than Match My Pup gameplay.

Submissions are reviewed for appropriateness before appearing in gameplay. We reserve the right to reject or remove uploaded photos that violate our content standards, are inappropriate, or are not suitable for gameplay.

Your Choices

Ad Privacy Settings

When you first use Match My Pup, you may be presented with choices about advertising depending on your region. You can manage your ad preferences at any time from the privacy settings option in the app.

Ad-Free Upgrade

Purchasing the ad-free upgrade ($0.99 USD) permanently removes advertising from Match My Pup.

Photo Deletion

You may delete photos you have uploaded at any time by tapping Join the Pack and selecting the delete icon next to the photo pair you wish to remove. Deleted photos are permanently removed from our active database and cannot be recovered.

If you have uninstalled the app, reinstalling it will typically restore access to your upload history, allowing you to delete your photos. For further assistance, please contact us at howhumane@gmail.com.

Tracking Transparency (iOS)

Match My Pup respects Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. If you decline tracking when prompted, AdMob will not access your device's advertising identifier.

Data Retention

Uploaded photos remain available in Match My Pup until they are deleted by the user or removed by us for moderation, operational, or legal reasons. When a photo is deleted, it is removed from active systems. Backup copies may persist briefly before being automatically removed as part of normal system operations.

Children's Privacy

Match My Pup is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The upload feature requires users to be 18 or older (or to have parental consent). If we become aware that content has been uploaded by a child without appropriate consent, we may remove that content.

Age Requirement

By using the upload feature, you confirm you are 18 or older or have parental consent to submit photos.

Jurisdiction

Match My Pup is operated from Ontario, Canada. Information may be processed and stored in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate. As a result, information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

Storage and Security

Photos are stored on servers operated by Google Firebase, which may be located outside of Canada. We take reasonable measures to protect uploaded content, but no system is completely secure. In the event of unauthorized access, uploaded photos, Pack IDs, and related service data could potentially be exposed. No names, accounts, or contact information are stored.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
